Patient and Family Education Programs

Cardiac Rehabilitation Center (CARE)
Provides education and assistance with lifestyle modification following a cardiac event. The program includes the teaching of survival skills and guiding points through progressive activities of daily living. Sessions consist of progressive exercises, risk factor modification, and maintenance. A physician referral is required.

Community Health Information Services

Provides literature on health-related topics for patients and their families upon request.

CPR Classes

Scheduled many times per year.

Contact: Health Education Department at 666-7843, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.


Enterostomy Therapy
Professional patient educators and a Certified Enterostomal Therapist provide services in the areas of education and enterostomal therapy. A physician referral is required.

Lifeskills Diabetes Self-Management Skills Program

Provides outpatient education for patients who need to learn how to manage their diabetes. A physician referral is required.

Living With Diabetes

This one-on-one session provides individual attention for controlling diabetes. The session will include basic diabetes, diet management, and meter training taught by a Diabetes Educator and Dietician. A physician referral is required.

Parent/Teen AIDS Awareness Seminars
are offered to parent and/or teen groups. Education to parents focuses on: What your family needs to know about AIDS; How to discuss AIDS with your teenager—what to say and how to say it. Education to teenagers focuses on: AIDS transmission and prevention; resisting peer pressure; making informed choices that will help protect your health for the rest of your life. Seminar provided free of charge to community organizations such as churches, civic clubs, and schools.

Tel-Med
provides computerized health messages on health topics to help patients and their families remain healthy, recognize early signs of illness, or adjust to a serious illness.

AMI (Alliance for Mentally Ill) Support Group offers support for family members of someone who is mentally ill.

Bereavement Support Group offers support for persons who have experienced the death of a loved one.

Breast Cancer Support Group offers support to breast cancer patients and their families.

Diabetes Foundation offers education and support for individuals and their families who deal with diabetes.
